About the Teenage and Young Adult Service

The Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) service is a multidisciplinary team which supports young people aged between 13 and 24 years inclusive who have a cancer diagnosis.

We recognise that you have different needs and priorities to other older or younger patients and the focus of care is using a holistic approach to promote positive coping and adjustment at this key developmental stage in your life. Based in Cambridge, our remit is region wide, supporting young people throughout East Anglia wherever they are treated. We have an outpatient drop in centre at The Oasis and a Teenage Cancer Trust Unit Ward C9 which incorporates a day unit and inpatient beds.

The TYA team consist of:

  • Teenage Cancer Trust Lead TYA Nurse (East Anglia)
  • Teenage Cancer Trust Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • Teenage Cancer Trust Youth Support Coordinator
  • TYA Counselling service
  • Teenage Cancer Trust Administrative Support

We also have link TYA nurses at other hospitals within the region.

The TYA team is here to support you and your family throughout your cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow up in whatever way is helpful to you.

We are here to answer your questions and support you in all aspects of your life.
