We know publication of the Ockenden Report into maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (24 June 2026) may be distressing and raise questions for women, families and staff.
First and foremost, we want to say clearly: your safety, your voice, and your experience matter to us.
The report highlights serious failings over many years in Nottingham, including not always listening to women, delays in recognising concerns, staffing pressures, and a culture where learning and action did not happen as it should have. It also emphasises the importance of compassionate care, clear communication, and ensuring women and families are at the centre of all decisions.
What this means for women and families using maternity & neonatal services at CUH)
Although this review relates to Nottingham, we are mindful that some of the issues raised in the report have been in multiple other reports into maternity services across the UK, so we are carefully reviewing all recommendations, and we will also include consideration of the pending AMOS national investigation report into maternity services due to be published soon.
As an organisation, we understand the importance of continuous review, improvement and development of our maternity services to achieve the best health outcomes with the community we serve.
At the Rosie Hospital we are committed to:
- Listening to women, families and staff and acting on concerns
- Providing safe, personalised and compassionate care at every stage
- Learning from incidents openly and improving practice
- Supporting our staff to deliver high-quality care in a positive and respectful culture
