Simon was elected as a Patient Governor in 2019. He chose to stand as a governor following the excellent care and treatment he received from the Trust and wanted to be part of providing the same service to other patients.
Simon hopes that the perspective he can bring as both a patient and a public sector employee will be a valuable asset, and that his participation in the Council will benefit future staff and patients.
Simon has a strong interest in the trauma work carried out at the Trust as well as staff conditions and well-being.
He currently works as a crew manager at Essex Fire and Rescue Services, and he has previously worked in the emergency department of a large hospital in another Trust on clinical placements to maintain currency and competency in pre-hospital trauma care skills.
Simon would encourage others to consider standing as a governor in the future. He is a firm believer that you can’t change things unless you get involved.
