David Dean was elected as a Public Governor in July 2017. Now retired, standing for election provided the opportunity to take on a new challenge whilst continuing to utilise his professional skill set.
David’s background is in Life Sciences where he worked to Vice President and Director level positions in a number of established companies. His focus has been particularly on Diagnostic and Genomic technology and seeing it implemented to improve patient care. He is also well aware of the opportunities new science will bring to healthcare, but also of the challenges (economic and ethical) that will arise.
David is looking forward to bringing his commercial skills to bear during his time as a Governor. He wants to represent the community while challenging and supporting the Trust to deliver the best service to all those that depend on it as a hospital, and also as a leading research centre.
David lives locally with his wife and his outside interests are seasonal, sailing when warm and skiing when cold! His children have grown up but still live close by.
