Consultant Midwife

Claire is our Consultant Midwife at the Rosie Hospital. She works closely with the Head of Midwifery and senior management team in driving positive change within the maternity unit. As part of her role she runs a birth choices clinic where she counsels women to formulate individualised birth plans for people with complex care needs, antenatal anxieties, previous birth trauma and women requesting care outside of guidance, among other issues. She also leads the Rosie Research team, and works closely with Rosie midwives as a clinical expert to support them in their role as women's advocate and expert in normal midwifery care. 

Claire joined the Rosie in 2014. Prior to this she held a variety of different roles in both the UK and overseas. In the UK Claire has worked as a Birthing Unit Manager, Matron for labour ward and high risk areas, and as a Community Midwife. Internationally she worked for four years in Liberia, West Africa as a Midwife Supervisor then Reproductive Health Project coordinator. She also worked for two years in Cambodia as a Midwife Tutor. 

Claire is passionate about improving pregnancy and birth experiences by delivering a high quality and safe service, that promotes and facilitates choice.
