The John Farman ICU (JVF ICU) has 15 intensive care beds and five high dependency beds. It has particular expertise in the care of patients who have diseases of the liver, kidney, blood or following major surgery.

Patients who require very intensive treatment, close monitoring and frequent nursing care, either after major surgery or as a consequence of serious injury or illness, are cared for in special wards called intensive care units. They are often abbreviated to ICUs.

The unit is located on ward D3 on level 3 of the main Addenbrooke’s building. You can access the ward via the hospital main reception. From the main hospital concourse (which is on Level 2 of the building), cross the link corridor (passing the hairdressers on your left) and take a lift to Level 3 (or the stairs next to them). Turn left out of the lift on Level 3, and Ward D3 is through the first set of double doors on your right.

The ward can be accessed through a buzzer to the left of the main doors. Please press when you wish to gain entry and a member of staff will open the doors for you as soon as possible.
