Dr Nicholas Brown
Microbiology consultant

Nick qualified in medicine and completed specialist training in medical microbiology in Bristol. He has been a Consultant Medical Microbiologist in Cambridge since 1996. He was microbiology Laboratory Director from 2002-2007 and has been Public Health England (PHE) Clinical Services Director since 2014. He is currently the clinical lead for PHE Regional microbiology laboratories in England.

Nick has a career long interest in the use of antibiotics and antibiotic resistance. He was President of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (BSAC) from 2012-15 and is currently the BSAC Director of Public and Professional Engagement. He is a member of the Department of Health advisory committee on Antibiotic Prescribing, Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection (APRHAI).
